PNZ Wood Varnish

Natural, water-based wood coating for interiors and exteriors. Protection against UV rays and weathering. Sustainably produced with regional raw materials.

Suitable for

Any wood in interiors or exteriors, like windows, window shutters, garden houses, facade cladding, timber framing, doors, fences, balcony and garden furniture. Also suitable for bee houses. Wood Varnish is an environmentally friendly, weather-resistant, highly water-repellent coat that offers long-term protection against UV-rays. Our product is based on natural oils, drop reduced, open-pore, moisture regulating and odorless.

Product Characteristics
Consumption

Approximately 60-85 ml/m², meaning 1 liter of Wood Varnish is enough for approximately 12-15 m² per application depending on the kind of wood and surface (planed or rough-sawn). Corrugated wood can increase consumption (factor 2-3). Lower consumption affects durability of the coat.

Storage

Cool, but frost free.

Cleaning

Clean tools with warm water and soap immediately after use.

Application/Use
  • The surface has to be clean, dry and free of dust and grease (consider sanding).
  • Processing temperature (including drying) above + 8 °C. Wood humidity < 18%. Air humidity < 60%.
  • Avoid exposure to moisture during drying. Final hardness is reached after 10 days. Handle with care during this period. Drying happens by oxidation accompanied by a characteristic odor, so ventilate well during drying.
  • Treat softwood (risk of fungi) in exteriors with an appropriate impregnation primer before applying the first coat.
  • Works differently depending on surface characteristics. Apply a trial coat first.
  • Stir contents well before and during use.
  • If possible, apply once on all sides before assembly.

Apply Wood Varnish by brush, roller, spray nozzle or immersion. Generally, old coats that are still load bearing can be painted over. For best possible durability: apply 2 coats for interior objects and 3 coats for exterior objects. Coat is touch dry after approximately 3 hours, can be painted over after 8 hours and is blockage free after 8-24 hours (wet and cold weather or high humidity can increase the time it takes to dry). Wood Varnish appears milky in its container but is the indicated color when dry. Certain woods (for example oak, larch, cedar, teak etc.) and cork may cause color seepage of wood components. These can be insulated with an appropriate insulation primer.
